Lost 2.75lb this week which finally takes me over the 2 stone lost mark! With the small gain last week and the STS the week before I was a bit discouraged but I feel great now. Must think of a nice reward for myself!
It is my birthday in just over 2 weeks and I am asking for money from everyone so I can buy some new clothes. I keep sending the way too big ones to the charity shop, but I didn't keep many of the clothes I grew out out on the way up so I don't have a lot to wear. I have some jeans and some work trousers which I bought this season, plus I've ordered new bras as I don't seem to be losing much from the bust and I desperately need some new ones. I am rather short of tops.
Kept on track with my eating once again this week easily enough, but I had to miss the gym yesterday as I have a nasty cough. Off work with it on Friday and today but hopefully I should be back to work tomorrow. Still the reduced exercise does not seem to have affected my loss this week, wonder what happened last week?
My in-laws were staying for the weekend. It is interesting to observe how much my father in law eats. He is a short man and he cannot exercise easily due to a bad leg but despite this he really puts away the food. Big meals of all the unhealthiest choices and then grazing on sweets in between. We went out on Friday for tea and he had a starter platter of various deep fried offerings with a tub of sour cream for dipping, followed by a huge pie and chips. No wonder he has a belly like a beach ball and struggles to walk up the stairs! I shudder to imagine the points he ate for that meal. I chose a rump steak, jacket potato and undressed salad. I had a bit of butter on my potato - 8.5 points for the whole meal. And the thing is I probably enjoyed my tea more than he did, he just ate it all mechanically.
He mentioned at one point that he thought my niece would have the same 'build' as him and my sister in law. I just wanted to shout, it's not your build, it's because you eat rubbish, and have no portion control! But there really is no point. After all, 5 months ago I was no different. This is really the point I am trying to make with this rambing. I am not trying to be critical, I just recongnise how much my own mindset has changed over the last 5 months.
Everyone has to take responsibility for their own size and it's no-one else's business. So I didn't say a word. But when you are losing weight yourself, you can't help but think it can you? I remember the last time my sister in law mentioned she was trying to lose weight. She said she had bought lots of salad, plus things that went with salad - like pork pies!! Needless to say that 'diet' did not work!
We were showing the in-laws our holiday photos from when we went to Germany a couple of months ago and there was one left on the camera from the last time they visited about 4 months ago. I could see the difference in my face from that picture and the Germany photos and then again from Germany to now. So I am losing from my face - hurray!

Yes, it is very easy to turn a critical eye on other people's eating habits, once you've been eating better yourself for a few months, and very difficult to bite your tongue and not come over all evangelical about it. You just want everyone to convert and feel as good as you do. Nothing worse than a born-again dieter, is there? You are so right, though, it is each to his own, and not our place to interfere of offer unsolicited advice. Well done you for holding back. And very well done on making it to that second stone.
ReplyDeleteI am the same regarding other people's eating habits as well, it's hard to bite your tongue so congrats on managing that! I sometimes want to scream at people - it doesn't have to be like that!!
ReplyDeleteWell done on the second stone as well
