Well I'm back from my fortnight of travels. I was really good at my parents for the first part of the trip. I had saved points and watched my portions which allowed me to have a few glasses of wine and enjoy the delicious lunch at my mum's 60th party especially the sinfully gorgeous Italian ice cream! I ended up helping out a lot with the food prep, dishwasher loading etc as my mum was rather tipsy - well it was her birthday :) and my dad was busy chatting between cooking so I had less opportunity to eat, which was a good thing!
I took my scales with me to do my normal Monday morning WI before catching the Eurostar as I wanted to hold myself accountable and I was delighted to lose 2.75lb! Only 0.25lb off my 3rd silver 7. It also meant I achieved my goal in the Summer Challenge I am going which is just as well before the holiday!
So then we went to Germany. And it was a cruise. And the food was divine. And there was so much of it!
I tried to be restrained, I really did. I kept to moderate portions and chose healthily at both breakfast and lunch which were buffets, and I didn't drink any alcohol. But the problem was dinner each night, there were very few choices, and none of them were low fat! So I decided to just enjoy the holiday and not worry too much. When I came back I could feel that my clothes were a bit tighter so I was not surprised to see a 4lb gain on Tuesday morning. Actually I was pleased to still be under 12 stone!
I am back on the straight and narrow now. In fact I may try and do a sort of fast start for the first week. It's funny but although I really enjoyed the food I am glad to be controlling what I eat again. It's funny how you can come to miss veg!
I try and post some holiday snaps later in the week. Germany and Switzerland were absoltuely beautiful.
