Cold and hungry

This week I have been wanting to eat constantly. I think it partly because it is cold. We burn off more calories in the cold right? But not so much in a centrally heated house so it's mainly due to boredom.

I got sent home from work on Tuesday at lunchtime as they closed the uni due to the weather. Then it was shut again on Wednesday. Thursday I tried to get in but went back home after slipping on the ice - I'm OK but it was scary out there, my neck of the woods has not been gritted anywhere, even on main roads. So I ended up having 2.5 days at home with my hubby who was marking hundreds of exam scripts and suffering from a cold. For myself my job isn't really one I can do from home as easily so I caught up on some telly, read, cross stitched and ate.

I am quite proud that I stuck to my points because I wanted to eat constantly. I ended up planning every day around the next snack or meal. (Wait an hour then I can eat a couple of clementines, then it is only one hour till lunch).

Normally I love time off but it's not as fun when the hubby is moping in the other room feeling miserable, muttering darkly that he does not know why he bothers when his students don't seem capable of reading the question! If I'd had the house to myself it would have been fine. Plus knowing I couldn't go far meant I instantly wanted to get out! Hubby refused to even contemplate driving on the ice rink that are our local roads (you have to go up a steep hill to get anywhere so I don't blame him).

So in short the most interesting option available was eating. I managed to make good choices on the whole. Yesterday's tea of WW sausages, oven chips, vinegar and tomato ketchup was the perfect winter comfort food even if it was not the most balanced meal!

Be safe everyone...
