GOAL!

I did it!

This week I lost 2.5lb which took me 1lb below my goal weight. I'm so happy, I have found it hard to stop smiling.

If anyone is struggling with WW this week let me tell you that no portion of chips, chocolate bar or lump of cheese ever felt as good as this!

Hubby and I have booked a couple of days off work and a night at a nice hotel in the Lake District to celebrate! I am going to have a nice meal with dessert and a hotel breakfast without worrying about it. I will stick to my old eating plan for the rest of the week and hopefully it will balance out. I think it's going to take a bit of figuring out to get the hang of maintaining but I think I deserve a couple of nice meals.

I'll tell you one great thing about being at goal - CLOTHES!

I went shopping last week as some of the autumn stock has come into the shops and I was desperate for warmer stuff that actually fits. There is a limit to how often you actually get to wear summer gear in Manchester, especially in my office which is like a freezer regardless of the weather outside.

Anyway I was trying on work trousers and had to buy size 10s! I was never aiming to go below a size 12 but I the 12s I have were swimming on me. On reflection though I do not think this is such a big deal...

Does anyone else think there is a clothing conspiracy? I have heard that clothes manufacturers/retailers have been increasing the sizes of clothes over the last decade so that people feel better about the size they buy. I have only a little evidence for this but I am inclined to think it is true. At my slimmest 17 years ago I was 18 years old and 8 stone, an entire stone less than I weigh today and I could barely get into a size 10. Now I am a bit of a different shape these days it's true but with the extra stone I find it hard to believe I am that much slimmer. I don't think my tummy and bum are smaller than they were at age 18, quite the contrary.

My second bit of evidence is my favorite ever summer skirt which I bought when I was at uni in about 1995. I wore it for a couple of years and then it got relegated to the back of the wardrobe as it didn't fit anymore. I never threw it out and this year I was able to wear it again on holiday for the first time in about 12 years (I still love it!) The label says size 12, it is non-elasticated so there is no cheating and it fits exactly, not spare room at all.

So maybe I should not be concerned about being a size 10, it sounds tiny but I'm not as skinny a twig as it sounds at first! Still in size 16 tops as the bazoomas demand it regardless of where else the weight has dropped off. I also got a size 14 dress from the White Company and a fab size 14 bright pink autumn coat from Per Una. Can't wait for the weather to get a bit cooler so I can wear it, or it can get warmer and let me wear my summer dresses, I don't mind I actually feel good either way!
