Back from my 4 days in Barcelona. I've never been to Spain before as it has never really appealed to me but I LOVED Barcelona!
The day I left was WI day and I was 9stone 0.75lb - just 0.75lb from goal! I took loads of summer dresses, skirts, even a strappy top which I have never worn before. It felt so good being able to look slim in more revealing clothes and feeling comfortable despite the heat and humidity. I know that if I had gone last year I would have felt like a whale and melted in baggy t-shirts and long skirts or jeans.
I ate pretty much what I wanted while I was away though I never had more than one glass of wine a day. I tried to make healthy choices most of the time but not at the expense of eating foods I liked, there was a lot of olive oil in tapas etc but I steered clear of everything deep-fried, fatty meats like choritzo and also cheese most of the time.
I tried to track my food intake for the first few days in a notebook, I was trying to stay fairly close to my 'maintain' points level but was a couple over each day until we went out for tapas and ice cream afterwards on the third night which totally blew my points so I gave up. I decided not to worry about it, accept a gain and fix it when I got home.
When we flew back I spent a couple of days at my mum and dad's before coming home. I felt like I couldn't stop wanting to eat! Crisps and dip, pretzels, biscuits, all things I have not touched in a year and not really missed I was craving all of a sudden. It was like the floodgates had reopened to a world of new or forgotton flavours and I wanted them all! At least I could have healthy meals at my parents even if I did eat larger portions than normal.
I was away 8 days in total so missed my usual WI. I had an SP on Tuesday morning to assess the damage and get back on track for next week - the result was a gain of 0.75lb which is bloody brilliant really considering. It is however really easy to see that if I don't get back on track I could gain 0.75lb every week and slowly slide back to where I started so time to get back to the WW!
I am back to my usual menu choices but I am still so hungry in the evenings! I ate more than usual on Monday so had 2.5 points to claw back. I have resorted to buying loads more 0 point vegetables to help fill me up and saving 1 point per day - only 0.5 point to claw back tonight then I am back on an even keel. Hopefully I will be able to lose at least part of the gain by Monday's WI then I can refocus on getting to goal.
